Chemical synthesis of complex carbohydrates, e.g. Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs)
Project description:
Enrolment in Doctoral degree at DTU (Danish Technical University)
Objectives: Research: 1) Set up selection criteria for HMO and HMOs analogues structures of interest based on literature and in silico evaluation; 2) Develop novel synthetic routes for the selected structures; 3) scale-up the synthesis of relevant and unavailable HMOs to g scale; 4) Characterize the novel products by NMR and LCMS techniques.
Training: Experience in: 1) in silico modelling, chemical synthesis of complex carbohydrates and structure character.; 2) NMR and LCMS techniques.
Planned secondment(s): 1) University of Sevilla, 3 months, focus on glycan screening; 2) University of Firenze, 3 months, thio-glycosylation experience
Elegibility criteria:
You should not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Denmark for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
No previous PhD.
Required education level:
Chemistry: Master Degree or equivalent
Required languages:
ENGLISH: Good (demonstrated by TOFL or similar)
Other requirements:
Experience with synthetic carbohydrate chemistry is an advantage (not a requirement)
