He completed his five years integrated BS-MS program in June 2023 from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata with a major in chemical sciences and minor in biological sciences. His research experience lies in synthetic carbohydrate chemistry as a part of Professor Balaram Mukhopadhyay’s laboratory in IISER Kolkata from January 2022 till July 2023. He submitted his final year MS dissertation titled “Towards the Synthesis of the Pentasaccharide Repeating Unit of the S. pneumoniae 15F CPS in the form of its 2-aminoethyl glycoside” in June, 2023.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
To chemically synthesise designer sugars, to support understanding of how noroviruses attach to and infect human cells. The synthesis will be targeted with chemoenzymatic approaches. Targets will be decided based on inputs by the other research groups associated with GlycoNoVi. The overall aim is to address knowledge gaps on norovirus sugar interactions and investigate the exciting possibility of developing synthetic sugars as an antiviral strategy to prevent or treat norovirus infection.
