GlycoNoVi Workshop 3

The 3rd GlycoNoVi Meeting, a highly anticipated gathering, unfolded over two productive days, the 20th and 23rd of January 2025, within the captivating ambiance of Seville, Spain. This historic and beautiful city provided an inspiring backdrop for the consortium’s work and collaboration.
As is customary, the meeting commenced with a series of engaging presentations delivered by the Doctoral Candidates (DCs). These sessions offered a valuable platform for them to share their newest advancements and insights gleaned from their ongoing projects, sparking lively discussions and fostering an environment of shared learning. Beyond these individual project updates, the consortium also benefited from several insightful lectures on important topics. These included deep dives into the complexities of Glycotherapeutics, a crucial area of study, as well as practical guidance on the art of communicating science effectively to fellow scientists. The final day of the consortium saw a dedicated shift in focus towards Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). This intensive session explored various aspects of the technology, encompassing its diverse uses, cutting-edge advanced techniques, and recent novelties in the field. The academic rigor of the meeting culminated in an in-depth practical session and a comprehensive tour of the laboratories. This hands-on experience provided attendees with a unique opportunity to witness the complex systems in place for crystallography, offering valuable practical insights into the research process.

Of course, the GlycoNoVi consortium isn’t solely about demanding work and intensive learning; it also emphasizes opportunities for networking and relaxation. The Doctoral Candidates had the unique chance to embark on a guided tour of Seville’s historic city center. This enriching experience allowed them to explore iconic landmarks such as the majestic Seville Cathedral and its Giralda tower, the unique architecture of the Plaza de España, and the charming winding streets of the Santa Cruz quarter. Another much-welcomed moment of rest and social connection was the social dinner. This delightful occasion provided a relaxed setting where both the Doctoral Candidates and their Supervisors could chat freely and and enjoy a beautiful meal, further strengthening the bonds within the consortium.
As the successful 3rd GlycoNoVi meeting drew to a close, we now eagerly look to the future with anticipation for our next exciting get-together, scheduled to take place in Grenoble this June!
